Pulled Pork Sandwiches!with Fried Onions and Cherry Tomatoes from the Garden
This was originally going to be a Wordless Wednesday post but, I changed my mind. Happens in the best of families. Or so I tell people.
I mean, I couldn't just say "Pulled Pork Sandwich" and leave it at that. Especially when there was so much more to tell. Like...
I didn't want you to think that you too could have an awesome looking (and tasting, if you ask me) sandwich just using your regular recipe. Oh no!
This one is special because I made a few substitutions.
I wish that I could say they were out of choice because then you would think that I could take a recipe and run with it. But, let's be real, you're not here for recipes. And for good reason.
The truth, I was missing a few minor ingredients.
One of them being BBQ sauce. Now, you're probably thinking, "No problem, we'll just whip something up". But, considering I need to read the cooking instructions on Kraft Dinner it was more in the magnitude of "Houston we have a problem!"
But then I remembered reading somewhere that you could replace BBQ sauce for ketchup and HP sauce. So I did.
Then, I realized that I didn't have any brown sugar or Sage. The sage wasn't a big issue because I had Thyme and seeing as they're both green and are spices, I figured we were good to go.
But the real kicker was that I didn't actually have any pork. In that case, I guess that I can't even call my creation a "Pulled Pork Sandwich". So basically, I pretty much made Panna Cotta. Which is tasty in it's own right but maybe not over a hamburger bun.
Okay, now I'm just pulling your leg. I had pork.
Have any Pulled Pork Recipes of Your Own?
P.S. Please don't ask me for the recipe. I couldn't tell you if I tried.
P.P.S. Now you know what you’re having for lunch tomorrow Rene. Well, not exactly I guess.
Disclosure: I received two tablespoons of brown sugar from Eric The Sheriff. He offered to give me barbeque sauce and sage too but where's the fun in that.
