Eating my Vegetables (and Words) with Copy Kids

It all started when I received a "Copy Kids" DVD as part of my extracurricular giveaway activities. I'd been told that Mom's all around the world were raving "it really works" and "this is the greatest thing since sliced cucumber" (okay, I made that last one up).

The premise is that your child will watch short videos of different kids, at different ages (nine months to five years) eating fruits and vegetables and want to eat them.

I was thinking that I'd be really impressed if it could make me eat broccoli. Besides, the kids are really good eaters and Barney is King.

Needless to say, I was skeptical.

One day, I came home and the kids were pigging out on red peppers, cucumbers, carrots, apples, avocados, and tomatoes. And that was only their first course.

Seriously, it was like watching a skit from "The Meaning of Life". Thankfully, we ran out of food before The Kids exploded.

At one point, a riot broke out because we didn't have any oranges. Thankfully, blueberries, apples, bananas and carrots (don't tell the kids they aren't a fruit) came to the rescue.

And mutiny was narrowly avoided because we didn't have any broccoli. That wasn't the real problem but rather the fact that we don't have the controller for the DVD Player (it was a hand-me down) so I couldn't figure out how to get the "broccoli" episode to play (the one that I wanted to watch the most!).

By the end of Day Three, Nanna reminded me that I hadn't taken any pictures and without them, no one would believe me.

After four days and 18 trips to the store and garden, I'm the one left eating...

My Words.

I guess I should watch that "Potty Training" D.V.D...

  4. Very interesting! I'm pretty happy with what my kids eat, but we don't generally have junky type foods in the house. And when we're out we talk about what we're eating and why it's "bad" or "good" for you.

  5. Wow!!! We don't have any issues with Little One and fruits and veggies (the kid will eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING), but my friend's kids are the pickiest eaters ever. Her 4 year old and 2 year old are currently on a hunger strike. They won't eat anything unless it's chicken fingers and fries or Oreos. This might help! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Wow! Can my kid come over? LOL!
He is the pickiest eater. He's good with fruit and veggies, he's just particular to when and what to eat when it's time. This should help!

  11. I'm looking forward to trying this out. My older girl (age 5) has turned into a picky eater just in the last few months, the worst part is that younger sister (age 2) will be happily munching away on something until Big Sister says it's yucky. And then the little one refuses to eat. It is SO annoying. But obviously the whole peer pressure food thing works.
